To Hyde Park with kids

Hyde Park has a wide range of facilities. There are cafes and restaurants offering everything from ice creams and sandwiches to three course meals. There is a children's playground and the Lookout, a former police observation point which is now an education centre where children learn about nature and wildlife. The park also has toilets, including facilities for disabled people.

One of London's oldest landscapes covering over 300 acres and with horse riding, a lake and a meadow it is very easy to forget that you are in the centre of London. There is also a boating lake, swimming, three childrens playgrounds and facilities for tennis, cycling and skating.

In the hot weather you can cool down by the Diana Memorial Fountain or swim at the lido which is open for public swimming from June to September. The lido also hosts the famous Christmas day race.

Speakers corner, at the top of the park near Marble Arch tube, allows any member of the public to speak publically as long as they don't use obscene language. This is a great place to go on a Sunday morning when it is busiest.

The Meadow Wildlife is a managed wildlife area covering 4 hectares and is home to many wild flowers, buterflies and insects.

The park is open from 5am until midnight all year round.
